YPD gives a kick to Sunny's career

The success of Yamla Pagla Deewana seems to have given a fresh lease of life to Sunny Deol's dipping career. His tentatively titled film Happy New Year with T-Series, which was put on hold for two years, picked up again. He has recently finished a schedule of the film and has started shooting for Chandra Prakash Dwivedi's Kashi Ka Assi. A source close to Sunny informs, "The T-Series film was supposed to go on floor in 2009 but was kept on hold for two years as the producers were unsure of Sunny's market position at that time.

But seeing the promos of Yamala Pagla Deewana and hearing the good buzz about the film the producers decided to roll the film and cash in on that."The director Vinay Sapru however gives another version. "Mr. Bushan Kumar believed in the script and cast from the beginning regardless of the fate of Yamla Pagla Deewana. Last year, we couldn't shoot due to recession," says Sapru, on returning from the US after completing a 25-days-schedule with Sunny Deol and Kangna Ranaut.

Ameesha says no to Sunny Deol

They worked together in Gadar and became one of the most successful onscreen couples. However Ameesha Patel refused to be part of  Sunny Deol's next film 'Mohalla 80'. According to an industry insider Ameesha was offered a pivotal role in Chandraprakash Dwivedi's forthcoming film ' Mohalla 80 ' which was enough to bring her fading career back on track. Though she was excited to do this Sunny starrer, seemingly she wasn't so happy with the money she was offered for the film.

When asked about 'Mohalla 80'Ameesha confirmed, "The film was offered to me but the budgets didn't work out". Director Chandraparkash Dwivedi has begun shooting of this film last week. Sunny will be seen in a very different look. Sunny who plays a Sanskrit teacher in the film will be seen in long kurta and dhoti . He has in fact grown a mustache to get the apt look. It is believed that Sunny's role in this film is just like his father's role in Satyakam . Clearly this is Ameesha's loss.

With dhoti and choti, Sunny deol set to play a priest in Mohalla Assi

He wear a beautiful turban and beard to perform a punjabi sardar in hit movie 'Yamla Pagla Deewana', and now Super star Sunny is set to esay a dhoti clothed priest in Chandra prakash Dwivedi 'Mohalla Assi'. Sunny deol has taken on a new and different role in the movie. Sunny Deol look like, complete with a dhoti, gamchha and kurta, kolhapuri chappal and a choti is unique and unlike that of a hindi cinema actor. But Sunny deol is very excited.  I have loads of sunny deol images in my cellphone, I simply love him. 'The script of 'Mohalla Assi' movie is different and very interesting, especially the role I play is so distinctive it is not quite like anything that I have perfome yet. You will see sunny deol in an completly new avatar.

It is true I will be perfoming a pandit role, therefore, Sunny deol will be dressed cloth that is typical for a pundit, rightdown to a choti to complete the look, 'Sunny deol said that in a press statement. The tale of 'Mohalla Assi' is based in city Benaras, says that Dwivedi, whose that last directorial was critically acclamation 'Pinjar'. 'It is a film based in a very popular and historical 'mohalla' on the southern city end of Benaras and river bank Ganga. The movie is based on a famous Hindi novel (Kashi Ka Assi) written by Dr. Kashinath Singh,' said that Dwivedi, best known for mythological television shows "Chanakya" and "Mrityunjay". On the cause behind selecting Sunny deol for the character he said: 'The film is satire, Sunny deol just seemed as somebody that could do the justice to the role, as sunny has prove to play serious role equally as good as sunny perfome funny roles.'
